Some things just call for fancy

These cute little oneies where so easy to make! cut out the top piece and bottom piece of the tie onto a piece of paper, trace to the back of your fabric and wonderunder, stick the wonderunder to the backside of your fabric, lay down on oneies, iron on and sew around the edge!

Another Baby Quilt

This quilt was for a girlfriend who had a little baby boy in August. She never found out the baby's gender and it is hard to find cute gender neutral baby fabrics, so her baby got a cow print!

Another Baby on Board

One of my girlfriends is having a baby next month!!
her shower is this weekend and i cant wait!
she doesnt know if she is having a boy or a girl so she is planning on doing the nursery in khaki and white and she will add blue or pink after the baby is born.

i found a great khaki and white zebra stripped pattern and added white chenille and a khaki white poka dot fabric. not very baby, but definitely fits my trendy friend!

Ruffle Shirt

Ruffle shirts are really in lately.

recently i needed to buy a suit and needed something for under it. so in a panic and short on time i got this cute tank with a little ruffle in the front from ann taylor. as soon as i got home i was mad at myself. yes the shirt was cute, but for the love of G i could have made that thing for less than the $28 i paid!

so i saw this great tutorial on Adventures in Dress Making

i had a shirt from old navy $7 that i had never worn
cut the sleeves
hemmed it into a t-shirt and ruffles with the sleeves

Baby Booties

Currently i have four friends that are pregnant! oddly enough, three are all due within a week in august. the other is due in april and her shower is coming up. She doesnt know what she is having and is planning on doing the nursey in khaki and white, adding pink or blue after the baby is born. she is also my trendiest friend so i found a khaki zebra print fabric and khaki and white poka-dot for the quilt. ill add in white chennelle. also i saw this tutorial (http://stardustshoes.blogspot.com/2006/10/cloth-shoe-pattern.html0) and made a
"practice pair" with scrap fabric. they were so easy to make and are just too cute. they almost make you want to have a baby. ALMOST!

DIY Christmas

Get excited, Family! It's all about the DIY Christmas gifts!
Last night I finished up a baby quilt for a friend due in January. She is having a boy! I have to make another one for a GF due in April, but her shower wont be until Feb so i have time. And i just found out another GF is due in August!! it's a very exciting time and i am going to try to make some other baby items like wash clothes and burp cloths! neither one of them are going to find out what they are having so i am brainstorming ideas for cute gender-neutral fabric. i just dont like the green and yellow!

i would add a few other things that i recently made, but my mother was looking at the blog and i dont want to spoil anything!

Hostess Apron

This was my first Thanksgiving as a married woman and my first holiday that i didnt spend with my family! it was very bittersweet and i called my parents numerous times throughout the day. my in-laws came up for the long weekend and we cooked dinner at our place. it was a lot of fun and a lot of work all for about 15 min of stuffing your face!!

every year that my mother hosted thanksgiving, she would have a craft for the ladies to do. sometimes, even the men got involved. well i didnt want to force "DIY projects" on my in-laws so i took the task into my own hands! i made hostess aprons for myself, my SIL and my MIL. my MIL loves syracuse so she obviously get orange and blue and my SIL love lilacs and the color purple. mine was made with left over fabric, but it happened to be pink so it was perfect!

here is the tutorial i followed. they took about 20-30 min each!

A First Attempt

I am planning on attempting my first piece of clothing.

Ok i tried to make a skirt last summer and it seemed to be going well, but i put it down and just havent picked it back up!

so i am going to try to make this cute wrap. i have the exact same thing that my gf gave me for christmas years ago and i wear it all the time! i wear it some much that now my husband jokes and asks if that is a new piece of clothing and tells me he has never seen it before. Joann's had 50% off their jeresy knit fabric so i bought 1 3/4 yrd in a hunter green and the same yardage in black.

i washed and dried the fabric the other night and plan on starting the project this weekend.

stay tuned!
